This file contains detailed instructions on how to complete the mod, it is advised you only read this
if you have run out of ideas. It DOES contain spoilers. If you just want hints, look at the HINTS file.

After installing the mod (TheHole.esp only), you will find nothing has really changed

After a while, you will hear a rumble, and the ground will shake, there has been an earthquake.

As more quakes happen over time, people will talk about it, and you can ask them what they know.

They will lead you first to Skingrad, and then finally to Greyrock Cave, where a home has cracked open.

Don't just run off to greyrock cave though, as the crack won't appear until after the big quake, and
the big quake wont happen while you are hanging around the area.

When you have been told about Greyrock Cave, go there, and talk to the leigion soldier watching
the hole. If you want, go look at the documents on his table, there is a nice little sidequest there

When you are ready jump down into the hole.

In the Hole
-----------

The first level of the hole is all about setting the scene. Wander around a bit and notice that some
really quite weird stuff is happening.

When you are done, go chat to the guard who is down the narrow sidepassage in the bottom chamber. Jump
down the new hole into the second level.

In the second level you will be faced with a Khajiit who is talking a little oddly. Depending on your
race, gender, and other attributes, the conversation may be different.

Gp through this level, see what happens, and end up at another hole to go down.

On the third level, you will be in a very strange place. An Ayleid ruin that is just a corridor that
you can't get out of. Keep waiting. It will change.

Note that as you go from one layout to another, you stay in the same relative position. If there is an
area you can't reach, wait till another layout, and you will likely be able to reach it.

In the end, you will come to a large Ayleid room with a raised center. On the center is a disc that
shoots spells at you. Grab it quickly, as it does a lot of damage. You can get it by swimming up
by the central pillar in the underwater cave in the previous layout.

The stairs and buttons are a red herring. Remember the portal in the second room in the ayleid ruins on
this level, the disc is the key to that portal, go all the way back. This portal takes you to level 4

The 4th level is where the trouble is. 3 mages doing an experiment. The cage they are in has a gate. You
have to find it, it is in the only place it can be, all the other outer edges of the cage are blocked
off by beds, bookcases, etc.

There is some fairly decent loot and rare books in here. You can't catch or kill the mages, don't try.

Once out, you will be confronted about being in the archmages study, and you get to see a big problem
that Skingrad has been wiped off of the map by the mages experiment. Go to where Skingrad used to be,
and chat to people in the village at the base of the mountain.

You can get up to the upper valley by climbing the track to the east of the tomato farm. Here you will
meed the ghost of the count of Skingrad. Follow his instructions and enter the ghosts realm.

In the west of the cave you'll see a blade barrier. Dont try and get through it, it will kill pretty much
anyone.

So, talk to Druja, she'll tell you to collect master weapons. Their locations are, in order of
difficulty

Mace : Marie Palielle in the chapel
Longsword : Ah-Malz in the Fighters Guild
Hammer : Agnete the Pickled in Hammer and Tongs
Shortsword: Reman Broder in hishouse
Battle Axe: Glarthir in his house
Claymore : Dion, in the Two Sisters Lodge
Dagger : Adrienne Berene in the Mages Guild
Scimitar : Toutius Sextius in his house

If you get stuck in the Shepherds house, kill the ghost sheep to get the door back.

Now pass the barrier, and head on into Skingrad castle

Talk to the mages, who are pretty scared of you, get information from them.

They will go and search. Hang around in Skingrad Hall for a while, and admire what happens over time as
the device builds up power. This took a lot of effort and time, and I want people to appreciate how
cool it is {:-)

Once you have properly enjoyed it (but before it gets too small) head outside. Talk to the two outdoor
mages, they will point you to the bridge holding the castle up, and the new waterfall.

When cold water hits hot lava, hydrogen is released, and can sometimes cause an explosion, pull at the
rocks on the waterfall, one of them is loose, and you can start the water flowing down to the
lava.

Stand in the middle of the bridge, where the mages are cowering, and watch the castle.

Once back in the normal world, head over to Skingrad after talking to Freygerd, and you'll find all is
well. Have a chat to the mages. Your best bet here is to search for information.

In chorrol and bruma, talk to the mages guild about scrolls, priests about the moth priests, and
finally talk to the countess of bruma to find out about the temple of the ancestor moths. Go meet up
with the mages again, and all head to the temple.

Once you have talked to the caretakers at the temple of the ancestor moths, head to leyawiin. You will
need to search the Blackwood for the missing priest.

As blackwood is a big place, you can get help

The three mages who you are working with
City Swimmer in Bravil
Bravil fighters guild
Leyawiin fighters guild
The Blackwood company (if they still exist)
Dagail in Leyawiin
Leyawiin's Argonian beggar, Deeh the Scalawag
Leyawiin's thieves guild
Mazoga the Orc (if she is a knight)

It can take quite a while even with lots of people helping out. Carry on about your business, and in the
end someone will come and find you with the location of the moth priest camp. If you want
to hunt yourself, look north of onyx caverns, and east of blankenmarch

When you are there, get the information from the moth priest, and then you have a choice to talk to the
blades or look for a historian. Have a chat with Freygerd.

In this case, we'll follow the blades path first, it is more interesting to do it this way.

The obvious place to find the Blades is in Cloud Ruler Temple. Head there, and chat, you'll be
directed to the captain, who will send you off to see a seer who often helps the Blades.

The Seer has been kidnapped, and from his house, you will spot a blood trail leading from the
front door. Follow the trail to Wayshrine Caverns.

Wayshrine caverns is initially small, but there is a secret door to the main area. Easy to spot on the
map, it isn't far from the main entrance.

Rescue the seer, and he will run away. The Ayleid ruin beyond is large, and contains a massive
maze. You have to go through the maze to get the key to get out of the ruins. The key is in the
treasure vault at the far side of the maze. The treasure vaults upper level is accessed via a raising
stair which is activated from the far side of the gas room.

Once you have the key, the way out is via the button on the back of the throne.

Once out, you will find the seer is unable to help due to trauma, so this has been a red herring, but
hopefully a fun one.

Continuing to search, this time for historians, you will be directed to tar-meena in the arcane
university. Just talk to people, clever people will direct you to bookshops who will eventually
lead you to tar-meena.

Tar Meena will tell you she can find information about the missing scroll in three days. You can speed
things up by going to cheydinhall and collecting a book for her, meaning she doesnt have to make
two days of travel herself.

The book has already been sold to lord rugdumph, and it has been stolen from him. Head to the underwater
cave full of argonian bandits. You will need plenty of water breathing here.

Rescue the book from the chest in the draugh cave, and return to Lord Rugdumph, and then to Tar Meena.

She will tell you she has found a reference but it is written in invisible ink. She will direct you to
a line of people that will end at Sinderion, to get a universal revealer to get the hidden ink.

He will give you a list of ingredients, depending on where you are in the game and what DLC you have.
It may contain objects only found in Oblivion or the Shivering Isles.

When you have collected the ingredients, he will make the potion, and you take it back to tar meena.

She will reveal that the newly visible report about the scroll is written in a code. She will crack it
but it will take her time. She takes one day to crack each stage.

You can speed things up by talking to the thieves guild who will crack the code much more quickly, for
a price.

When you have the report sorted out, you will know to go back to the Blades and talk to them about it.

The Blades will direct you to the Blades Archive. Roliand will lead you there.

In there you will find yourself, eventually, in a jail cell. This cell has no door, however, and you
can escape. Up or down, the escape is quite perilous, either way gets you out. An extra side quest is
available by going down. There is a prisoner, alive, in the level above the Vampire level, He has a
story and leads to a quest if you rescue him. The key is in the pocket of one of the vampires.

When out from the Blades vault, you know where to go. Pale Pass is only available to go to when
you have been given the location by the countess of Bruma. She will give this to you, and you can
continue.

Heading to Pale Pass, you will notice, within the pass, just to the right of the main fort ruin, you
can see some swirling light. Go there, see what happens.

You can either destroy the portal, or enter it. This is the first main plot branch. It is assumed
you enter it, destroying it is a lot of fun and gets you some different places to search, this
walkthrough doesn't cover it though.

Enter the portal by talking to Freygerd

Listen to the dialog that happens afterwards, to get some more story.

Head up in the tower. The three maze levels all have exactly the same maze solution, so you can learn
it on the easy first time, and eventually solve the hard one on level 6.

On level 7 is my personal favorite puzzle in the game. Pull the lever and use the mirrors to point the
light beam at the lock in the door.

Up, and to the top, you will find the elder scroll. Take it, and DO NOT MISS the other note on the
table. You will need it.

When you were going up, one of the Akaviri set fire to the tower, the flames will be coming up, don't
try and get back down, just stay at the top. You will be rescued.

After you are rescued, you will immediately have your second major plot branch. Drop the scroll
and surrender, and you will be returned, scroll-less to Pale Pass. Run away and have a big fight while
you try and get back.

It is assumed for this walkthrough that you keep the scroll. Surrendering it gives you access to new
quests, and takes you down into the dark aspects of Daedra worship. Try it out, you'll like it.

So, assuming you keep the scroll, run, just run. The bad guys will NOT stop coming, when you kill them
they are reborn back where they started.

The puzzle from the piece of paper on the table with the Scroll is how you get out. Read the scroll
standing on the bridge over lava that is right and over the hill ahead when you exit the throne room.

Before you escape though, there is a nice little sidequest further on. Go over the bridge over lava,
go across that island, across the stepping stones to another island. Just onto that island, a little way
in and off to the right, is a hut. It really shouldn't be there. Have a look in there. It has a cellar.

So, anyway, when you are done with the sidequest (or not, it isnt mandatory), stand on the bridge,
beneath the claw, and read the scroll, then head to the new portal that just appeared infront of you.

Appear back in Tamriel, fight off the ogres and get the bad news.

Talk to Roliand, and then head back to the place you left Ulwaen, the moth priest.

Get more bad news. Search the body, and head to the location indicated.

This last fight of the game is a VERY tough fight. The enemies support each other with healing, and
I expect few will win the first time they try. Roliand can't die, at the end of the fight he is
resurrected as if he was only unconscious. His essential flag has been removed though, to make sure when
he goes down, he stays down. This IS the end fight afterall!

So, you have won the end fight, talk to Ulwaen to wake him up, and get him to read the scroll.

Watch and enjoy the ending, I hope it will be a nice surprise for you all, and you didn't see it coming!
